An Elegy on the death of Mr. Mason Gibbons, a young
gentleman of the senior class in Queen's College, who
departed this life in May, 1783.
I.
Be silent mirth, stop't be ev'ry smile,
The mournful bells, some fun'ral dirge relate,
Death's ruthless trump aloud begins to thrill,
And quick determines some frail mortal's fate.
